I wish I could be that girl from Out of This World and could just put my hands together and stop time.
My cousin who has been battle Leukemia lost her fight Monday. She was 26. Talk about things that suck. At the after party from the memorial mass there was a wall of pictures of her. I sat and stared at them for what seemed like hours. Its weird cause i had forgotten all about this side of Rachel. I mean I grew up with her, i knew this side, but often when people are sick for so long you forget that they did live outside their illness. It sucks that those good memories all wash away because all you have been hearing about lately is how not well she is doing.
So, thus far 2009 has brought me tonsil removal, a nasty broken toe/ruptured nail bed and a 26 year old cousin dying way too young from a terrible illness. I'm not liking this year. So I did my usual act in times when i can control nothing in my life and I dyed my hair. I'm a blonde again. I have no idea why this is my answer when life tosses crap my way. But it's what I do.
The toe story is kind of amusing. I was working an event in Chicago and one of the nights was a formal dinner with optional dancing. If you've met me you know that dancing is never an option, especially when its the cheesy wedding type. We all joked and called it prom. We even had a prom preparty. Needless to say after dinner i didn't leave the dance floor and by the end of the night we were all so tired from working all day/dancing for the past 4 hours and perhaps we were intoxicated as well. We got kicked out of the ballroom and were waiting in the hall to debate on what to do next when one of my favorite people crawled onto a table to lay down. I tried to help her get off the table as to not embarrass herself (funny that I was trying to be responsible) when the table toppled from the weight getting redistributed in all the wrong places. Also in the wrong place was my foot. Thankfully it only smashed the toe, but it did a rather bang up job of smashing it. I woke up the next morning with my foot propped up, blood everywhere(toes are bleeders) I was covered in pretzels. I had a DJ microphone in one hand, there was a wheelchair with an empty bottle of champagne on it next to me and since it was Sunday, there was some religious mass on TV and the remote was no where to be found. AHHH life . . . I had to get wheeled around Midway Airport which meant me and the 90 year olds talking about how unattractive the guy pushing my cart was. I did get a shorter security line (BONUS!) The following weekend I went to Atlanta with my friend Phil and once again I got wheeled around that airport. It's rather embarrassing to get wheeled around the airport, but its better than crying in pain from my toe. I also was in that lovely city to witness the record breaking 2 inches of snow that shut down the entire freaking city. I'm talking they closed the U of Georgia. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! You didn't even need plows to get thru it. So ridiculous Georgia. I'm thinking about writing the state a letter telling them to grow a pair.
My stubbornness paid off Friday when out of the blue I got my apology. I have this very victorious feeling right now. I shouldn't act this juvenile but I totally deserved this and I will be sleeping well. Man how I have missed Fred.
Currently getting addicted to Rollarcoaster Tycoon. Am I 12? Maybe.
I worry for the rest of 09. Seriously, I'm thinking at this rate Ill have a peg leg by my birthday in August.
