Life has been weird lately. I don't get people and have officially given up to trying to figure things out. Your words and actions should both say the same thing, but strangely enough i seem to spend time with people where its just the opposite. lovely.
Im really into baking bread. I got banned from my Dad's side of the family's Thanksgiving celebration due to a very sick cousin and me have a very bad cold. This is my favorite side of the family, so this was hard new to take. Also my Close Grandma (whose name comes from the fact she lives next door) makes the most amazing rolls. And missing the rolls is a sad story. My mom decided to have just our immediate family over for Thanksgiving. This result in me trying to make rolls that rival my Close Grandma's. And guess what folks. I did it. I actually beat her recipe. See, she gave me some rolls to take to my Thanksgiving and I had a blind taste test with my siblings and i sure did take that cake. So this is where the whole, I'm really into baking bread thing started. I'm fascinated with yeast. Its so cool. A few days after Thanksgiving I cooked a 23 lbs bird for my friends and made these rolls again. And what do you know, they were a hit. They also make biscuits and gravy 10,000 times better than if you used Grands rolls.
Can you believe its 2009? I know I'm a bit early, but with my posting rate lately, we will just call this the end of 2008. I got back into the travel game this year, which was awesome. I thought I was over it for awhile, but it turns out I need it now more than I ever did. Nothing beats exploring a new place and seeing things that you've only read about. I mean, I freaking stayed in a hotel made of ice! I'm nuts and I love it.
I've met a lot of people this year and made some really good friends. As you grow up its harder to make good friends. School is such a friend forcer. The real world, not so much. I mean work would be a place, and I've made some awesome work friends, but they are all married and some have kids. So its not the lets go on an adventure friend. Which thankfully I've found a few of those. I wonder who will come into my life next year?
I've had a lot of major life experiences this year, which were bound to happen and I'm glad they did. Wish some would have gone down a little differently, but no regrets. It's not worth it. I don't have a time machine, I can't change things.
You should all go get the new Killer album and listen to it on repeat. It might not sound good the first time, but trust me, it's addicting. I can't wait to see them in January. I'm also going to see Girl Talk again. YEAH! Last time I saw him, someone got naked and tasered by cops. Wonder what will happen this time? So the new year will start out good, at least musically.
I'm also working on a project that I'm hoping will go live next year. I'd like it by March, but when people are working for free, its hard to push them. It's going to be, at least in theory, an awesome site that will be helpful for the traveller and city dweller alike. Let's hope this works. Stay tuned for more to come on that front. It might be the second most life changing event in my life. Or it might fizzle and I'll go to plan B. Which is getting my masters and moving into marketing at my current employer.
Hope you had a good 2008. See you in the '09.
