What an insane couple of days I have been having. Can I get a break in here?
Where to start . . .Ahh Ok I know.
The weather has been crazy! 2 major storms in less than 48 hours have left much of Saint Louis in chaos. I am the only one in my family with power still. The storms struck Wednesday night and Friday morning-ish, so they have been without power for a while. I am not talking family as in my brother and sisters. I am talking family as in the 9 aunts and uncles, 5 cousins and 2 grandparents all of whom don't have power. I was caught in Wednesday night storm, which was the worst. I was trying to get to a friends house when what looked like the Dust Bowl of the 1930's began. Following the dust were winds up to 90 mph and from there disaster. Now, I am a natural disaster lover. This is no secret, but when a huge tree fell feet in front of my car as I tried to take cover, that is when I decided that some things are best left watching and not experiencing. I managed to turn around from where I was and make it to the Mall where I hid in the parking garage. But I also managed to spend 100 bucks waiting for the storm to end so I could make it home for Project Runway.
Thankfully I didn't lose power at my house because if I would have missed that Project Runway I would have been sad. I can't believe Malan got the boot. Never saw that coming. I really love that show. . .
I also love the Ben and Jerry's ice cream that the office keeps buying us.Yummy Peanut Butter Cup. Nothing like ice cream to cool off.
I am not able to go to Belgium. Work was not too happy with my request and I was not too happy with their offer of what it would take for me to take off those days. Boo I say to you. Boo.
I went to see Les Miserables on the opening night of its final run. My friend RL is interning at KMOX right now and got 2 tickets to opening night sitting Orchestra K. Do you know how close that is? I think I got some sweat on me from the actors on stage. The man who plays Jean Valjean has a spectacular voice. I mean, it was so incredible. I was almost in tears after he got done with some of his songs. Holy shit this man could sing. It was such a great night. Really good free tickets, an awesome dinner at the Fox before hand and being in good company. Ohh, the good nights, how I do love you.
Tuesday was also the day that I was finally able to sleep well because it was the first time I heard from Dahlia in over a week. I had last talked to her when she got back to Beirut after evacuating her southern village where 3 people were killed. On Monday she was going to stay in Beirut till the airport reopened. When I woke the following morning and heard that they bombed the airport again I was really concerned. And then to not hear from her for over a week was horrible. I was so worried about her. Thankfully Tuesday she emailed me from a hotel in Damascus. She is flying to London today and hopefully will call me soon so I can hear about her adventure. I am not sure how she got to Syria, but thankfully she did. I can't wait till she starts at Georgetown in the fall. It will be the 1st time in our 3 years of knowing each other that we will be on the same continent for more than 6 months. Yippy!
I get to go visit my sister this weekend. I am pretty pumped. Omaha is always a good time. It's such a clean and spacious city too.
I want a vacation. A real one, maybe to Fiji or Croatia.
