JIFF returned this weekend. JIFF stands for Jessica's International Film Fest. I hosted one a while back and it was a huge success. This time it was just me and my foreign flicks but nonetheless, it was amazing. JIFF rocks.
I watched a film called "Turtles can Fly." It is the first film to be shot in Iraq since the fall of Saddam. The film focuses on what Iraq was like right before the American/Iraq war began. The film mainly focuses in what it was like for the kids. It's quite humorous at parts because of how the kids have organized themselves, but there are sad parts. Not cry your eyes out sad, but more of, that's their reality sad. Still if you cry at commercials I recommend a tissue. This film is rental worthy
The next flick on the list was "Broken Wings." This was an Israeli film. This one hit home for me. It was just amazing. I loved it. I thought that it truly did a great job capturing the moment. I am not going to tell you much because this is one that you have to watch. This film is buy worthy.
I will continue with the rest of JIFF at a later date. I am sitting in the room that we just painted today and something tells me that I should not be hanging out in paint fumes. I am going to relocate to a non toxic room but there is no computer there. Sorry kids, but we gotta get the house sell ready.
Night
Go watch foreign films. The subtitles are good for you.
