Cheer! Cheer! Cheer!
In case you didn't get the memo, life is awesome.
Thursday started as it usually does. I was chillin at my house when I get a call from my partner in travel crime, Liz. Somehow by the end of the 30 min convo, I had booked a plane ticket to Boston for the next day, Friday, and well, ya, that is how life works sometimes.
It was just crazy.
Friday night we just hung out and ate some wicked good calamari. Saturday started out innocent enough. We had no plans but to walk the dog. Somehow we ended up going to this 7 acre cornfield maze in Connecticut. It was a Yankees vs. Red Soxs themed corn maze. How does one even think about passing that up? (see for yourself) After the maze we were talking to the owners and enjoying some of their delicious hot dogs and one thing lead to another and soon we were headed for the Big Apple. It ended up being one of the most amazing nights I have ever had. It's not that we did all these extravagant things in NYC. It was just the shear fact that I woke up Thursday with nothing to do for the weekend. Then end up in Boston. I woke up Saturday with no big plans for the day, and end up in NYC. From now on, I plan nothing.
I had one of the best dinners in my life in SoHo that night. It was a combo of being able to sit outside on a November night in NYC with great people, amazing food, spectacular location and a sense that the world is mine for the taking. It really doesn't get any better than that.
We visited Ground Zero and Time Square. Ground Zero when you first glance at it just looks like a giant open area in the middle of the Financial District. Then you look around and realize that giant open areas in the middle of the Financial District don't exist in NYC without something catastrophic happening. That is when you actually gain perspective about what really went down that day. It's very humbleing.
Then came Time Square. TS assured me that I have chosen a good career path. It is so cluttered with Adverts and lights that you are just taken away by it all. Everywhere you look something is flashing at you. Hooray for Capitalism and granted me some type of job security. Even better than driving around NYC and hanging out there for a night was the fact that we did not once have to pay for parking any of the 3 times that we parked. AND the fact that all of our parking spaces were the My Pony and Me's of parking spaces. It was just amazing. I have been to NYC before, but I was younger and really wasn't able to take it in like I did Saturday. Liz and I are an amazing combo.
What I find to be crazy is how Thursday when I was packing for my last min trip, I packed a road atlas. I had no idea at the time why I was packing an atlas, but something was just like, 'Hey you should bring that atlas that you have hidden somewhere in your crowded bookcase.' So I did. And even though we had directions to the corn maze, I still brought along the atlas. I mean, clearly, I was destined to be in NYC with Liz, her bro and Angelica this weekend. If not, I might have atlas dependency issues.
I am still shocked how everything went down. It's so awesome. It's also exhausting. We didn't return to Boston till 5 or so Sunday morning. We had the most WACK fog ever. It was so dense at times that you couldn't see the front of your car. Then 5 min later it was so clear you could see the stars. 5 more min of driving and there was so much fog that road signs would jump out at you because you did see them till you passed them. And the pattern continued all the way up the eastern seaboard. Lovely.
The rest of the weekend was rather relax. This morning we went to hold signs for the elections in Woburn. Liz's brother lives in Woburn and he is pretty active in the local politics. I thought that since I am going to be running for President one day, I might as well have some random acts of political niceness on my creds. I feel that holding a sign on a busy corner in Woburn should really help win my voters hearts in that area. Not to mention that it gave me a chance to practice my 'step-and-wave.' A move that is really going to help me out when the time comes. I think I might have over done it. My arms are intensely sore. That's rough.
Anyhoo kids, it's time for me to recover my losses and hit the sack. I have in internship interview at 10 a.m. Still have no idea about campaigns class, but have decided that I don't need to be Creative Director anymore. I mean if I get it, score. Bbut if the deal is no dice, then it's no dice. And I shall live to see another sunrise.
Take care of yourselves.
Remember, the tall people only come out on Saturday's. So watch out.
Till next time, I'm over and out.
Liz and her Puppy
Hooray!
This is what the candle holder that I want looks like. If you find one, you have to tell me where you found it out. You can email me at jessica.sontheimer@gmail.com. Thanks for your help kids.

So sad
Such a pretty might
Sweet dude, it's corn!
The freedom flag. If you got lost you were to wave this flag really high till someone found you. We never had to use it. Instead, we poked each other with it.
The World Trade Center subway stop
The empty spot in the heart of NYC. It's massive.
Lizand I rocking out in SoHO
All that flashes obnoxiously . . . .
Blinding Lights
