Pants on fire

Having the ones closest too you be the physically farthest is really hard. You can never just go over and hang out. First one must get a plane ticket, then pack, then get to the airport, board the flight, fly, land, deplane, get bags, and then find the person. The entire processes is really strained when one factors in the cost of said adventure. I have looked and sadly there are no such things as money trees. This means that one has to find alternate ways of getting money for the hanging out to occur.

Enter job.

Having a job seems like it would help because it is the provider of money. In reality, it adds another layer to the 7-layer of hell dip. With a job you can't just not be there one day. You must get time off approved. You need to request these things in advance and pray that no one else is wanting that time away. So we think that job is useful for the money it provides, but we are wrong and the frustration of trying to hang out with a friend continues.

So you save and get the ticket, but wait, will the friend be able to get off of their job so that you can make the most of you adventure?

Enter vital stage of planning ahead.

This really ruins the element of surprise. It's one thing to drive 5 min to find out if my friend if busy or not. It is quite another to fly somewhere, rent a car, then drive to their house to find out that they are busy.

Maybe I will just stop making friends. The heartache is too much at times when all you want is a hug from one of them.
