Week one has ended. Only 7 more to go. Let's recap. Now the sounds like a brilliant idea.
Day 2 was much like day 1. Nothing really to report on. Day 3 was absolutly horrible and had me in tears. They had nothing for me to do and my mentor was gone so I basically sat and stared out the window for 8 hours. I would randomly go up to people and ask if they had anything for me to do and I got nothing. It was not a good day.
Thursday was 180 degrees different than Wednesday thankfully and I actually started to talk to people. I still have doubting thoughts about creating any gang of homies. But actually having people that I can say HI to in the halls, is a nice feeling.
Friday I spent the day working in HR like I am going to be doing every Friday. It was a nice change up except that the HR girls are a bit on the interesting side. First off they are huge on the whole personality type test. They not only use the Myers-Briggs but they also use one created by Catell which defines trait perferences. These tests are fun to take, but the fact that they use them as indicators for hiring someone is insane. None of these types of test have any emperical validity. Basically they are all a load of rubbish that people buy ino because they can't grasp the fact that behaviour is unpredictable. It's ridiculous. Then I over heard 2 of the girls getting into deep conversation about their type. The Myers-Briggs gives you a series of letters that are suppose to define you. You can be a E or I, F or shit I forgot, but the point is that one on of the either ors is J or T, I think. Well this is a long way to take to explain something, but moving on, well 2 of the girls were in heavy convo about how they wish the J wasn't coming out in them and how they wish they were more of T people. Then the other would chime in, " Life is easier as a J," and how she should be more grateful of her T-ness. I just wanted to laugh, but I didn't. I should have
Then I saw the head lady of HR pull out these Tarot angel cards and start reading her cards for the day. She would pick on up, consult the book, consult the women next to her and then call her husband. Her and the lady next to her would then both talk about what the cards mean to them. But hey it takes all kinds for the world to go round. It also takes all kinds to keep Miss Cleo in business.
Today I walked down to the town and just kind of milled around. There was some type of fair and I strolled around that for awhile. My mom called and gave me a fam update. Emilie now lives in Omaha and NBS is moving to Shreveport, LA. Colin got a job running the Harrahs casino down there. The NBS bit was a shock to me, I had no idea that was in the works. Last I heard they were moving to Vegas. Gone a week and the fam scatters. She also informed me that Dominic and Baby Claw are still the cutest kids in the world. Glad to know somethings dont change.
I have found out how I am going to make my millions. Apparently playing Powerball is not a reliable way to secure my millions. I am going to create a TV program called 'The Allotment.' Hast dad Bob has an allotment and he comes home with daily updates. I can't believe some of the stuff that goes on. Some guy didn't like where this new chick parked her car so he took his wheelbarrow and scraped up the whole side of her car. He barrowed her. How insane is that. Apparently everyone over here has an allotment so I think that I will create my show with the BBC first. Once it becomes popular, which it will, TLC will most likely do a spin off. That is when I will sit back and watch the back account soar. Then maybe I will buy Arsenal football club and really piss the Brits off.
PS - has anyone else caught either the FA Cup or the European Cup? Both were fab games and I do recommend watching them if you can. Liverpool, who knew.
I have been trying to get into Cricket since I have been here. Bob turns it on almost nightly and tries to explain it to me but I just don't get it. I mean I get the logistics of the game, but why someone would want to play cricket for 8 hours a day for a 3 day game is beyond me. More important is why someone would want to watch 8 hours of cricket for 3 days straight. Again, it takes all kinds.
Left over Mousaka is calling me. I think I will answer it.
Yummy Mousaka.
Have a good one kids and remember that the sun will come out tomorrow. If not, fly to St. Thomas cause its always out there.
