Reluctantly crouched at the Starting Line

Does anyone out there watch the show Cash in the Attic? What about Bargain Hunters? These are 2 of my favorite shows on the BBC. I am fascinated by how much value people place on items. Like today, there was this rather bleh looking landscape painting. Well, it turns out that some Irish painter painted it and it sold at auction for 1500 pounds. 1500? That just blew me away.

Oh and incase you don't watch the shows I will briefly explain them. Cash in the Attic is where a family wants to raise money for something -- it can be anything ranging from a new kitchen to a donkey sanctuary. What happens is the host of the show comes to the people's house with an antiquer and they search around for stuff that they think will sell at auction. At the end of the show they show you the auction and you see how much the people make. On Bargain Hunters a rather annoying host gives 2 teams 100 pounds. Armed with an expert they search around a flea market trying to find thing that they can buy cheap and hopefully sell at auction for like 4 times what they paid. They do get to keep any profits that they make, so it is not a bad gig.

What if my host family is really big in antiquing? I am sure that I would learn a few things or 10 about what makes something so valuable. Maybe I will be on one of those shows. Now that would be sweet. The host of Cash in the Attic looks like he would be a good time.

Speaking of good times, I had this dream last night that I was hanging out with Jon Stewart. He was preaching in some outdoor churchish thing and we ended up having ourselves a grand time. NBS was there and I do believe that we were mainly making fun of her. It was hilarious, you really should have been there. I think my old boss was there too.

I made cupcakes for my Mom today. They said "Happy MUMthers Day." Get it MUMther's? Oh I thought I was really clever this morning.

Dahlia got an internship with The WHO (World Health Organization) this summer. I am very proud of her and this means that I will be spending some time Geneva this summer. The city looks amazing. http://www.geneve-tourisme.ch/ Plus they speak French, so at least some of my school work will come in handy. Liz is getting a plane ticket to London for her college graduation present. I am so thrilled about this. Finally things are falling into place. I believe that Prague and Vienna are going to occupy our time for the first week we are there together. After that we will meet up with Dahlia and see Jean for the weekend. Then spend some time in Geneva and head home. Now we will just see how well that plan works out. Watch me end up in Poland or something.

Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Life goes on . . .
