Actually, can I get a water without straw wrapper?

I am a dishwasher loading goddess. When others have given up and been defeated by the number of dishes they are dealing with, I step in and show them how it's done. Move a few things around, accidentally break a dish or two, I do whatever it takes to make it all fit. Some call what I do an artform. I call it being lazy and not wanting to hand wash dishes.

Yesterday there were 3 new developments in the internship department. It starts with bad news, then goes to "what?" news, all to be ended with, OK news.

1) I received word that my dream internship has fallen through. My dream internship, you know the one that I didn't want to say anything about so i didn't curse myself? Yes, that one. Well it since I am no longer doing it, I will tell you the details of it. So I was supposed to be doing event planning at the US embassy in London. I will give you a moment to take in the awesomeness of this internship.

Yes, folks, it was going to be awesome. It turns out that there have been some policy changes with the embassy and they are no longer accepting interns. I wouldn't have been working in the Embassy building, it was a different building next to the Embassy. But I would have still been dealing with dignitaries and powerful people. I am crushed by this news. I honestly would have shat myself if this was what I ended up doing because it was too good to be true. I should have know I don't have that type of luck, but it was nice to daydream about it.

2) Here is the extremely ironic part. After I received the crushing blow about the Embassy job, Wilma, the director, told me that they had another company extremely interested in me. Before I tell you the name of the company, I want you to guess. Take the wildest guess you have ever taken. Think about all the companies in the world. . . .

Keep thinking

Think I say

OK, enough thinking. So I ask Wilma what company it is for. She says, are you ready for this? She says Enterprise Rent A Car.

I started to laugh extremely loud after she said this. This had to be a cruel joke. But sadly it was not. It turns out that the UK call center is very interested in giving me a Customer Service internship at there UK Call Center. And by customer service internship, they mean that I will be a res agent taking calls and complaints like I did over here for 2 years. The main differences would be that A) I would be in the UK and they would be yelling at me and asking me perverted questions in a British accent. B) I wouldn't be getting paid. So basically its doing a job that I have already done, and hated, for free.

I don't think so. I am not saying that ERAC is a bad company, they spoil their employees. I AM saying that working in the call center answering calls is the worst thing in the world, and something that I will never do again.

Wilma is all about finding the perfect internship for me. She use to email me a lot asking my opinion on companies. When we found the Embassy one I obviously agreed to it, and we thought that I was all set. So when that flopped she has been working in over drive to place me somewhere. She didn't think that I would want the ERAC internship, but she thought that she ask. I feel bad having to say no, but I know that there are 2 other places that she is talking to. Also, I need an internship in my field in order to graduate. I asked the lady at Webster who arranges local internships and she said that the ERAC job wouldn't count. Basically it would be pointless to even take it if I wanted it. But I do find it absolutely hilarious that of all the companies in the world, it's Enterprise that wants me. It's absolutely hilarious.

3) This development is basically that we are back at the starting line. I wrote an email to Wilma further vocalizing my thoughts on the ERAC internship and she sent it over to them. I explained the criteria that the internship needs to fit in order for me to apply it towards graduation. If they can find me something that works, then who knows, maybe I will be working for ERAC in the UK.

What an odd turn of events.
